nooooooooooooo.

Don’t worry, I’ll take lots of pictures so you can look at them and wish you were as cool as me, but revel in the fact that you’re not as poor as me :)

Soo, although I saw them last night, I’m totally going to see the Kooks again tonight, yay!

oh my god. i am so jealous. so so so so so so jealous.

Okay, I can’t remember where you live, but look at these other shows they are doing too! http://www.thekooks.com/news/australia-headline-shows-announced/

OMG, I’ve never been so happy! I fucking guessed the pre-sale code, first try!!
Okay, so for anyone interested, you can buy tickets for the Perth Kooks show at the Astor here, presale is from NOW until the 7th of October (limited tickets), and the pre-sale code is “kooks” (I’m a flipping genius for figuring it out, I know). They will sell out very very soon after the normal sale starts on the 11th, so get in now while you can! The tickets go from $76 to $85 after booking fee and postage, what the fuck, but totally still worth it of course.

Poster Announcement!

I feel absolutely terrible! Because there was waaaaay (like 4,800 times) more interest than I ever expected there to be, and I don’t have enough posters (or postage money, lol) to give everyone something! I looked at ALL the notes (which took flipping hours!) and have come to a conclusion on the winners - based on obscene amounts of reblogging and/or persuasive essays. But because I suck at life I’ve picked a bunch of runners up, who will get random other fangirlish things that I own and no longer desire. So let’s get on with it! (I will tumblr-ask you guys for your address anyway)

How To Be:

letters-that-youll-never-read

The Kooks:

ko-nk, jumpinapuddle

Runners up: letsdanceto-joydivision, crissvoter (I haven’t decided what the runner up prize is because I still love all my Kooks collection, lol, but you guys were sooooo close to winning that I have to give you something)

Southbound and Little Red:

ashtonjuilla

Mika:

heppyfathersdayfreddy, goldenalbert, bounce-bounce, blackadlerqueen

Runners up: wutup-stranger, sexycupcakemonster, golden-poodle, songsforsorrow, whizzbeeess (You will recieve a random selection of trashy uk newspapers with Mika on the front, and/or poster-quality A4 pages out of this Japanese magazine!)

Oh my god, when I get to the post office I am going to regret this.

Oh, okay. Don’t mind me while I schedule my life around a vague tweet. But I reeaaaally need to know if it’s before or after Southbound, damn it!

Bianca’s amazing poster giveaway!
I’m cleaning my room out and as such rehoming most of my posters. Up for grabs here is a Kooks poster, it’s pretty huge (I’m shit at estimating, but maybe 1.5m across?) and I have two of them! One is new, one has been used, but I’ll cover postage so if you want one then all you have to do is reblog this post (you don’t have to follow if you don’t want to). If you’re really keen you can reblog as many times as you want, anything goes!
I’ll pick the winners in a week (so the 13th of September).

Pele speaking very slowly so that all the stupid people will understand him.

Pelle Fucking Almqvist is the only person who can tell 30,000 people to sit down at a music festival, get most of them to do it and keep every bit of my respect.

YES ELLEN!! I AM IN THIS VIDEO!
About 30 metres in front of this person in the second row is exactly where I was standing.
Fucking Pelle making me sit down.

Haha, The Kooks made people do this for a while, Luke Pritchard can make 40,000 people sit down at a festival, in a language he doesn’t speak: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4QbmjtM8HM&t=2m55s

Is It Me - The Kooks

Hmm, I think the video is a bit stupid/boring. I like the song though, yay! :D

The Kooks’ playing “Junk of the Heart (Happy)” {new song}

This is too lovely

Haha yeah, I went and looked this video up afterwards too, I heaps prefer this version to the studio one.

Junk of the Heart (Happy) - The Kooks

New Single!! Again, it seems more mastered than their old albums? But I do love it. This one’s very cheerful and uplifting, I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album asdfghdfghdfghgfdfgh.

Victoria - The Kooks (cover of the Kinks song)

A live version of this song (by The Kinks) has been added to the Beacon playlist. When new songs get added they play more often than the others so I’ve been hearing it all the time. Which reminds me of the Kooks and this makes me happy.

Although I don’t know what to think of their new song yet. I mean, I’m not saying it’s bad, and I’m sure I will still love the new album. But, they’ve changed their style. Of course, it’s great to grow and not be the same all the time, but it was kind of their ‘thing’ to record all their songs just as a group of friends sitting in the recording room together (like, this cut was one of the tracks on their last album, and I love that). But The Saboteur has obviously had a lot of effort put into putting it together. And sure, I love heaps of bands/people who spend months putting each song together for their albums … but the Kooks were one of the bands who stood out for exactly not that reason. Oh well, we’ll see I guess!
